The Power of Flax Seed

Ancient Flax Seed is Today’s Modern Miracle Food

Flax seed is being discussed in many studies for the wonderful benefits it provides. It lowers total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol (the Bad cholesterol) levels. It may also help lower blood triglyceride and blood pressure. It keeps platelets from becoming sticky therefore reducing the risk of a heart attack.

Flax seed oil seems to be able to heal the inner lining of the inflamed intestines. Aside from alpha linolenic acid, flax seed is rich in lignan. A type phytoestrogen antioxidant and also provides fiber.

Research shows that lignan in flax seed has a great deal of potential in fighting diseases like cancer – both breast and prostate cancer.

The benefits of Flax Seed are significant and if those listed above are not enough…

Here is another Food for Thought:

  • Just two table spoons of Flax Seed per day provide the recommended daily dose of omega 3 which – I’ll say it again – helps your heart and your mind.
  • It also keeps you regular. And that ensures you move waste and toxins from your body more efficiently. A Very Good thing!

I eat Flax Seed every single day and here’s how:

  • Sprinkle it on Greek yogurt
  • A Healthy bowl of oatmeal or cereal
  • On a salad
  • In healthy shake
  • Or even in a glass of water

It tastes kind of nutty and is so good for you.

Note: Buy Flaxseed fresh and refrigerate to keep it from going rancid.

Quick & Easy Hot Crab Meat Dip

Hot Crab Meat Dip

Mix 1 Brick cream cheese (room temp till soft) with:

  • 1 green onion with top about 1/4 cup thinly sliced
  • Prepared horseradish ½ to 1 tsp to taste
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbls. mayo
  • 2 tbls. sour cream

Sprinkle 1lb crab meat with fresh lemon, fold crab together with above ingredients

Add to 9 inch glass baking dish & sprinkle lightly with Bread Crumbs

Bake 350 for 30 minutes.

Serve with crackers, breads, flatbread.

Optional: Sprinkle with 1/4 cup toasted sliced almonds before baking

Food for Thought: (Use real ingredients rather than NON-FAT, REDUCED FAT, SUGAR FREE etc.)

Real food without all that additional manufacturing, marketing fluff, processing to remove original ingredients that is then replaced with added sugar and fillers to make it taste better –  is better for you in the long run.

There’s Nothing Like the Real Thing!

There’s Nothing Like the Real Thing!

Ever notice the healthy glow people have after an intense workout or run? It’s not just the fact that they are pushing oxygen into their bloodstream, which by the way, is a very good thing for your heart and mind.  That glow is also the result of good, healthy, brisk activity driving impurities out of the liver, lungs, kidneys and pores.

A REAL workout is another natural body cleanse. I rarely miss my daily dose.

If you have little to no activity or if you think a walk on the treadmill is a work out, you’ll want to think again. A treadmill makes a walk easier and is a somewhat mindless activity. If you’re just starting, begin with a brisk walk but if at all possible, not the treadmill type.

A REAL activity engages both body and mind. The point is to get your heart rate up and keep it up for as long as you can. And then increase your activity each time so that you change it up and keep it REAL.

A real workout does so much more than help you look good. It’s a cleansing of body mind and soul.
